Are you new to Audacity and unsure about how to start recording? I made this video for people who are new to Audacity and have never recorded a track. Recording in Audacity is simple and I show you how to do it in this short video.
Here’s the link to my course I mentioned in the video, Audacity Bootcamp: Beginner to Advanced.
Hey There and thanks for this Bootcamp. Just now finding you and appreciate you sharing your knowledge!!!
I’ve recently updated Audacity. Prior to that, I could hit record, stop (not pause) to “edit as I go” then hit record and it record on the SAME track. Now, if I do that process, it starts a NEW track. For the life of me, I cannot find the setting that will allow me to do what I used to do. I can “Ammend Record” from the track drop down, and it will start recording on the same track. But you have to do that every single time you stop. Let me clarify that I’d hit pause and continue, but the point in stopping is so that I can edit – and as you know, we can’t do that if we pause. I’d appreciate any help you could give to me, Thank you so much for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Melody

Check your Preferences > Recording > and make sure Record on a New Track is unchecked. That’ll probably do it.
